Taman Ayun Temple and The Royal Palace of Menwi

Taman Ayun which means beautiful garden park is the most complete and beautiful temple in Bali. Taman Ayun temple was built by the king of Mengwi named I Gusti Agung Anom in 1634 AD. It was restored and enlarged in 1937. This large temple is well maintained and surrounded by moat to give the impression of a sanctuary in the middle of a pond, garden with a pond. The water is a symbolic place of contact with the divine through widyadari, nymphs who bathe there. The Taman Ayun temple are categorized into the state temple where the ancestors of a royal dynasty and the founder of a kingdom are collectively worshipped by the people of a kingdom. State temples include mountain temples, sea temples, and those at the heart of a kingdom. All of the merus and pelinggih here are dedicated to the ancestors of the royal family and the God in His many manifestations. Among thos all pelinggihs, there is a brick building facing east the paibon, a royal ancestral altar.

 

Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest

The Ramayana epic tells about Prince Rama helped by monkey army attacked Alengka Pura to save his beautiful wife Princess Dewi Sita. His enemy, Rahwana who kidnapped Sita, is a villainous giant that could die neither on earth nor in air. To kill him, Hanuman - the general of the monkey army-, pressed Rahwana between two halves of the holy mountain Mahameru. When he took Mahameru, a part of the mountain fell to the earth in Bali, along with a group of his monkey armies. According to this legend, they are the ancestors of the monkeys you will see in Bali. Alas Kedaton is a small forest with a cluster of towering trees and hoe of hundreds of sprite monkeys. The forest and all tame monkeys are considered to be sacred. For many years no one has been permitted to chop the wood nor to catch any of the monkeys. The temple inside the forest where the monkeys living is dedicated to the god of water. The Hindu Balinese believe that the forest or monkeys are the property of the god of the temple.

 

Bedugul National Park & Temple Beratan

Bedugul is situated in a highland, in the crater of the ancient Mt Bratan. With its cool temperature this part of Bali becomes the center of tropical vegetables and fruits production.Close to the lake there is a public market where Balinese traders sell their vegetables and fruits. It is nice if you make a stop just to see their activities. On the way to Bedugul we will feel a radical change of atmosphere from the green and yellow rice paddy into green and fertile land of vegetables, from flowing tiers of rice to motley patches of onion, cabbage and other fruits. On both sides of the main road we can see hills of green vegetables and farmers working to cultivate the land. This is rich alpine country. The earth saturated by mountain streams is smothered with thick moss and creepers. The lake Bratan takes an important part of peasants daily life as a water reservoir to irrigate the vegetables plantation and rice field in the lower area. The beautiful temple on this lake is dedicated to Dewi Danu, godess of water.

 

Jatiluwih Rice Terrace

This area around Batukau is one of great scenery beauty. There is a tiny road from wongaya gede across steep rice terraces. The view of here is fantastic, above hill and slopes with steep rice terraces all around.

Tanah Lot is believed to be derived from the words: "tanah laut" means "a peace of land in the sea". This holy Hindu temple built on a small strong rocky isle sets apart from the mainland by a stone basin. The rock becomes beautiful as being carved by the incoming tide for many years. Though the temple is small, but for the Balinese this temple is very important as it is associated with Danghyang Nirartha - Ida Pedanda Sakti Wau Rauh- a holy Hindu priest who made a holy trip on foot through the island at the end of 15th century. He once arrived in this village and took a rest in this small rocky island. He healed many sick people from the fishermens village. But he did not want to move from this place and advised the fishermen to built a temple there as he felt it to be a holy and fitting place to worship God. The monkeys within the Sacred Monkey Forest of Padangtegal are commonly called long-tailed macaques. Their scientific name is Macaca fascicuiaris. In Bali , there are Balinese long-tailed macaque troops (populations) that lives in areas where they have little to no contact with humans and troops that come into contact with humans on a regular basis. In western part is Dalem Temple (temple dedicated to Siwa Gods), in eastern is the cemetery and Merajapati Temple dedicated to Goddes of Durga (wife of Siwa God). Kecak Dance

Kecak Dance at Batu Bulan Village, A Kecak performance is very simple. The men's chorus chants the words Cak ke-cak ke-cak ke-cak ke-cak ke-cak, in rhythm, over and over again, For this reason they are called the Kecak or Cak dance. The Kecak dances consist of about fifty men wearing only a loin-cloth, the upper part of their bodies left bare. They form rows of circles, in teh middle of which is a coconut oil lamp. Denpasar Market

Denpasar is the capital of Bali Province. The main street of Denpasar is Gajah Mada street where is the main shopping center, there are 2 big market, Pasar Badung and Pasar Kumbasari, Pasar mean market. Both of the market has 4 storey and open 24 hours in the day time the market open in main building, in the base and second floor for vegetables, fruits, meat and daily food seller, third and fourth floor for textile and temple procession equipment. Late evening till early morning the market open in the parking area. In the main street there are a lot of big textiles shops.

 

Bali Museum

Museum Bali, this museum originally built in 1910 by Dutch Government. In 20 January 1917 this museum was destroyed by the biggest earthquake in Bali. In 1932 the museum again till today, there are 4 main building in south pavilion has 2 storey has collection of prehistoric pieces, traditional artefacts and some old painting. Futher north Buleleng building has variety collection of textiles including endek and double ikat gringsing. Taman Ayun Temple

Royal Family Temple in Mengwi, huge state temple of Mengwi Kingdom surrounded by a wide moat, the temple built in 1634. Outside yard with open grassy expanse and meeting hall for held the meeting, dance performance and sometime cockfighting. About 500 population monkeys in this forest, inside of the forest there is very old temple (Alas Kedaton Temple), big fruit bats hanging in high tree during the day time and will go to outside for feed in the night time. Batukaru Temple

Drive to north passed the Penebel Village we will arrive in Batukaru Temple, the temple located in Wongaya Gede Village. This temple one of important temple in Bali for western direction of Bali. Kertagosa Old Justice

(Kerta Gosa), located in the center of Klungkung town in front of Klungkung Puputan Memorial. Built in 1710 by Dewa Agung the King of Klungkung. The ceiling of the hall completely covered inside with fine painting Kamasan Style. The story of painting is The Epic of life Balinese Journey of the soul. In the midle built Bale Kambang (Floating Hall), the ceiling full with Kamasan Painting. Besakih Temple

Ulundanu Beratan Temple

Brahma Arama Vihara Buddhist Monastery

Brahma Arama Vihara Buddhist Monastery, drive about 2 kilometers from hot spring throught Tegeha Village will be arrive in Buddhist Monastery. Painted with colourfull decoration very bright orange roof and Budha statues. The building carve with Balinese decorative carvings. Right of the top you may see the small Borobudur, the area very nice with beautifull view overlooking to Lovina Beach. Should be quiet and take attention to enter due to the people do meditation practice around the temple, wear sarong to enter the temple. No fixed entrance fee (donation)

 

Munduk Village

Munduk Village has lovely bird eye view overlooking to rice field and plantation, there are a lot of plantation grow up surounded the village such as Coffee Robusta, Coffee Arabica, Avocado, Clove and etc. The village located in the high mountain with fresh weather. There is some hotel for overnight in this area. Free entrance

 

Twin Lake, Buyan Lake & Tamblingan Lake

Twin Lake, Buyan Lake and Tamblingan Lake, the first stop in Buyan Lake to see colony of monkey around the street. Buyan lake the third biggest lake after Batur and Bratan. Next stop will be see the smallest lake Tamblingan Lake, will make a stop between Buyan Lake and Tamblingan Lake with the most beautifull view of lake and green mountain. Next stop will be near Munduk Village with bird eye view of clove, coffee plantation and rice terraces. No entrance fee
